Sometimes you just 'e-meet' people and perfectly click with them. No pun intended :) But that was totally Katherine and I! Katherine told me Derek proposed at home on a quiet Sunday when she had gotten home from work. He had their bedroom filled with lots of balloons and a card that said all the things he loved about her. Within one of the balloons she'd find a surprise. Her engagement ring was inside a balloon and she had to find it! :) Now if that isn't a tear jerker, I don't know what is.
When Katherine contacted me to shoot her engagement session, of course I was overjoyed! Then I followed my usual smiles and excitement to style their session was my obvious question "well whose the lucky wedding photographer?" Then, Katherine told me that her and Derek were doing their research because her daddy was ALSO a photographer! So, if that didn't raise the bar, I'm not sure what did!! I always encourage and appreciate when brides do their research. I feel that they become a better more-educated client. They figure out what they love, what they don't, what they expect out of their wedding photography and how well they click with the personality of the photographer. I think it's awesome to do an engagement session first, then book. It's always a team effort between photographer and client and this definitely cuts the suspense and red tape out of guessing.
Katherine was so eager to work such a fabulous session out and she came with plenty of ideas and suggestions. She knew she wanted a cutesy and fun vibe mixed with a slight rustic and vintage feel, using bikes and other sweet elements, like the frame and home-made save the date signs. We changed the location a few times and had to reschedule once because of the rain, but when it FINALLY got here, it was a hit!! Katherine & Derek have this very quiet and sweet nature to their relationship; gentle, sweet, calm, and perfectly photogenic as you can tell! I enjoyed working with such nice people and was so thrilled when I had Katherine's images edited and posted in a gallery within 24 hours from the session. I was like a kid at Christmas giving her those images so quickly! Coming home to the email that it was official, I would be their wedding photographer is ALWAYS the best kind. And to top this perfectly lovey recipe off, Katherine shared with me their cherry of a venue--- the keller property!! A rustic and open space where you wed wait for it....... IN A BARN!!! So cheers to Katherine & Derek, I am HONORED to shoot your fall wedding on October 7, 2011! :) Welcome to the AMP family!
Katherine writes, "Alex was super creative and has a great eye for photography. She was in constant communication with us, and got our images back to us fully edited within 24 hours! We would absolutely recommend Alex as an engagement photographer to friends and family; she was not only extremely professional, but was very upbeat and positive and really helped us feel comfortable during our session! The best thing about hiring Alex with Alex Michele Photography was that she was very understanding and helpful, and she truly wanted our session to be the best. She made us feel like we were her only clients (when in fact she is super busy and always booked up!). I can't imagine hiring a different photographer for any future events!"
